Frittenden is a small village close to Cranbrook and Sissinghurst. It is surrounded by farmland and there are many lovely walks in the vicinity. When motoring was considered a leisure activity and day-trippers from London used to enjoy a jaunt in the country, the cunning folk of Frittenden enticed these 1930s travellers to their village with tales of the fabled Treacle Mines that supplied the world with treacle.
